We struggled with how/when to voice differences, versus expressing our common ground and underlying unity.  Respect and vulnerable listening seen as prerequisites to any challenge given. Acceptance of the other’s path.

It takes some time to build a relationship before enough trust is established that we can begin to process differences.  But it is our duty to voice our different truths to each other.

We aspire to relationships where we can speak our mind, having enough trust in the relationship that we can put it at risk by voicing our truth.  If heart of religion is beliefs, then that can be manipulated by politics to separate us, but if heart is how to have good relationships, that is more difficult for politics to manipulate.
