  • We discussed the beneficial characteristics of the External Diploma Program offered at the Career Development Academy at JMU.
  • Adults that need a high school diploma can get help.
  • The high school drop-out rate is a community concern.
  • About 20% of local adults do not yet have a high school diploma.
  • In the H’burg-R’ham area the only two ways for an adult that left high school without graduating to get a credential is EDP or GED.
  • Currently GED is only sucessfully serving less than 2% of adults without a credential.
  • EDP is an alternative to GED to consider.
  • More information can be found at www.nedp.org and at www.jmu.edu/coe/ltle/careerdevelopment.shtml and at www.jmu.edu/coe/ltle/wm_library/NEDP_SP_2009.pdf
