Notes:
The damaging effects of coal mining, coal processing, and coal burning were discussed at length. The reasons why coal cannot be made clean at this point in time were explained. Sequestration is not yet considered safe and doubtless will never be.
Our dependency on coal for electricity and the lack of available alternative fuels is the major problem for the planet. As long as we need it to power our lifestyle we continue to do mountaintop removal mining even though we acknowledge the devastation. Websites or contacts for more information:
