Interpretation is a vital part of building bridges between various cultural communities, and it is a professional service. Interpreters often work in two-person pairs who switch off at 20-minute intervals. For the October 22 Intercultural/Interfaith Summit, we would ideally have
- 4 Pairs of Spanish Interpreters
- 1 Pair of Kurdish, Arabic, and Russian
The Community Mediation Center is pursuing funding to cover these costs, and accepting donations and willing, trained volunteers. Would you or your business contribute $150 or $300 to cover the cost of one interpreter or a pair? It’s tax deductible and would make a real difference for all the attendees. This also opens up a larger conversation about the funding and availability of interpretation – and translation (written) – services in our areas. A great discussion topic for the summit!
